Why is my solar feed-in tariff rate less than what you charge me for power?

The feed-in rate is less than the primary retail tariff. This is because energy retailers (including us) need to cover costs involved in providing electricity to customers.

It doesn’t mean customers with solar won’t save money. It simply means you’re usually better off using the solar energy your panels are generating instead of using energy from the grid. And if you still have leftover energy you can send back to the electricity grid, the feed-in-tariff you’ll receive is a bonus!
