No, there is no specific training that you will require to complete prior to your application, however if you are successful in being offered an apprenticeship with us, you will need to ensure you complete general construction induction prior to commencement. More information on the general construction induction is available at WorkSafe. If you do not hold a current Queensland drivers’ licence, you will be required to obtain the licence during the probationary period.

No, due to the nature of our industry and the training required prior to commencing operational work, Energy Queensland is unable meet the legislated requirements of school-based apprenticeships.

Work experience is encouraged for school students considering an apprenticeship with us; however, it is important to note that due to operational constraints work experience is not offered in all locations and only at specific times of the years.

We don't cover the cost to relocate as a new apprentice. It's your responsibility to relocate to the area near the depot you are allocated to.

Apprenticeship vacancies are advertised in June each year. Visit our Positions and locations web page to see if we’re advertising for applications now. You can also set up a Job Alert which will ensure you are notified when we next advertise for apprentices. Please note applications or resumes can't be accepted for apprenticeships outside of official recruitment period.
You first need to decide which apprenticeship type and location you're applying for, because you can only apply for one. You can then apply online as follows:
- Get prepared - To complete an application you'll need:
- A current email address that you use regularly
- A current resume
- Your latest school results if you are under 21 years old, and details of any courses or training you may have completed
- Two referees and their contact details
- Start application - Go to Apprentices Job Listings and select 'Start new application'
- Register - If you haven't already registered with the site, you'll be asked to set up an account. This allows you to save your application and complete it later
- Complete application - Make sure that you complete all required fields. When prompted, you'll also have to upload your resume along with any school, tertiary or university results
- Submit - Once you've filled everything in, you can submit your application
- Confirmation - You'll be notified by email when we receive your application. If you do not receive an email confirmation that your application has been received, please review your application again to ensure you have submitted the application completely.
