Request a refund
You can request a refund if your account is in credit.
If you’ve paid more than needed, or your solar has built up extra credit, you don’t have to leave it sitting on your account.
Request a refund online
The easiest way to request a refund is through My Account.
- Log in or register for My Account
- Go to ‘Billing & Payments’
- If you’re eligible, you’ll see a ‘Request a refund’ button.
If you have a closed account you can still request a refund via My Account.
When we'll need to speak with you
In some cases, we’ll need to help with your refund over the phone. Please call us on 13 10 46 (residential) or 1300 135 210 (business) if:
- you have an active account that's under $50 in credit
- you have SmoothPay on your account
- you’re an authorised representative on the account.
Solar credits and refunds
Annual solar refund
If your solar system regularly generates more energy than you use, great work! That often means you’re in credit.
Excess solar credits are automatically refunded:
- After the 12‑month anniversary of your solar meter installation, and
- Every 12 months after that.
Solar refunds anytime
You can also request a solar refund any time if you’d prefer to receive it sooner.
Switching to EFT for solar refunds
From 1 July, cheque refunds are no longer available.
To receive your solar refunds faster, switch to EFT so payments go straight into your bank account.
It’s quick, secure and hassle‑free.
To switch:
- Log in to My Account
- Select ‘Billing & Payments’
- Choose ‘Solar refunds’ and add your bank details.
