You can authorise someone you trust to talk to us and manage most parts of your residential or business energy account on your behalf. It’s handy if you’re busy, away, or want extra support.

What’s an authorised representative?
An authorised representative is someone you trust who can speak to us and manage most parts of your energy account on your behalf.
This can be a family member, friend, employee or another business.
What can an authorised representative do?
They can:
- Get information about your account
- Make enquiries and manage most day‑to‑day account tasks
- Register for and use My Account. If your authorised representative is already registered for My Account, they'll be able to select the relevant account when they log in.
What can’t an authorised representative do?
For security reasons, they can’t:
- Set up or finalise an account on behalf of the account holder
- Add, change or remove a password
- Add, change or remove a Direct Debit or Centrepay in the account holder’s name
- Add or remove other authorised representatives or business contacts
- Request a refund or transfer of credit
- Update personal details (other than their own)
- Add, change or remove Life Support.
How do I add an authorised representative to a residential account?
Complete the Appointment of authorised representative – residential form (PDF 278.9 kb) and send it to us.

What’s a business contact?
If you’re an employee registering on behalf of a company or organisation, you'll need to be added as a business contact to access My Account.
Business contacts don’t have the same authority as an authorised representative, but they can access account information for their role.
How do I add a business contact?
Email us at enquiry@support.ergonretail.com.au (or reply to any email from us) with:
- The electricity account name and ABN or ACN
- Your role in the business
- Your full name and date of birth (for security)
- Your phone number and email address.
What other third‑party authorities can be added?
You can also add:
- Power of Attorney
- Enduring Power of Attorney
- Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) appointed representatives
- Financial Counsellor Authority
- Depending on the authority, they may be able to fully act on your behalf.
How do I add a third‑party authority?
Send us:
- Your full name and contact phone number
- A copy of the relevant documentation (for example, Power of Attorney papers).
