Who we are
Your local energy experts
Ergon Energy Retail is part of Energy Queensland, established in June 2016 to build on our proud history of powering Queensland and create a community-focused energy business ready for the future.
Ergon Energy Retail is a separate business to Ergon Energy Network, which builds and maintains the electricity network in regional Queensland.
100% Queensland owned
Proud to be 100% Queensland
We’re proud to employ Queenslanders right across the state. We love our communities and playing our part in helping them thrive. We’re here for you, because we’re 100% Queensland owned.
The Queensland advantage

Queensland is our home too. It’s where we live and work, with 100% of our Customer Solutions Team in Maryborough, Mackay, Townsville and Rockhampton. So every time you call us, you’re guaranteed 100% local service.
From the Torres Strait in the north, to Stanthorpe in the south and Mount Isa in the west, we’re here to help you get the most out of your energy.
Community Service Obligation
As part of its commitment to keep regional Queensland power prices on par with the southeast, the Queensland Government provides a subsidy to meet the additional costs involved in supplying electricity to regional Queensland.
This subsidy is called the Community Service Obligation (CSO) payment, which is around $603 million each year.
We understand it’s essential for households and businesses in regional Queensland communities to have access to power at a similar cost to those in the southeast.

Supporting our communities
We’re an active part of our regional communities by creating local employment and supporting each other like family.
For over two decades, our customers and employees have helped to raise more than $20 million for the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Queensland. Find out how you can donate to the RFDS.
We’re also one of the biggest buyers of renewable energy generated in Queensland, which stimulates the economy, generates local jobs and provides green energy options for regional Queenslanders.
Our renewable energy sources include wind farms at Mount Emerald, hydro stations at Paradise Dam and Tinaroo Dam, and biomass plants at sugar mills.
