We will give you a minimum of four (4) business days notice for planned power outages for maintenance work. The dates and times are unable to be negotiated. You should make alternative arrangements if you need power during a planned outage.

Planned maintenance work on our network is important to provide you with a safe and reliable power supply. Outages are also required to meet regulatory obligations where electricity retailers rely on us for planned outages to enable metering works.

If you have been notified of a planned outage at your premises:

  • Please ensure switchboard access is clear and contact free
  • If you have an unrestrained dog on the premises our crews will not enter the property. Please ensure your dog is suitably restrained on the notified outage date
  • We may be on site prior to and after this day to prepare for and complete the required works
  • Planned work may be cancelled or run over time due to unforeseen circumstances
  • Equipment connected to the NBN including phone, internet, medical alarm, or emergency call buttons may not work during a power outage
  • Activate your plan of action if you’re reliant on life support equipment
  • Read our Be prepared for outages information.
  • Outage information request form

If your meter read has been estimated, you can submit a self meter read and ask your electricity retailer to adjust your power bill. Read more about Submitting a self meter read. If you have a complaint about your meter reading, please contact your electricity retailer directly (their contact details will be on your last power bill).

To keep our meter readers safe, if they can’t determine whether there is a dog on your premises and see that it's restrained, they won’t be able to enter your property. If you’d like to provide feedback, please complete our General Enquiry form.

If your electricity meter is difficult to access because you have locked gates, you can obtain approved meter locks so we can access your meter. If you have a dog, please register for meter read alerts so you’ll know when to ‘suitably restrain’ your dog - read more on our Safe entry web page. Safety of our field staff is of upmost importance and crews will assess whether access is safe when they arrive onsite. If you still have feedback, please complete our General Enquiry form.

Please complete our General Enquiry form to submit a dispute about your meter read.

You can request up to two years of metering data for your premises. Read more and request data via our Accessing your metering data web page.

If you believe our crew or contractors have damaged your personal property, please submit our Personal property damage form.

Please read about the types of claims that can be made on our Claims web page. If you’d like to make a compensation claim for damage/loss caused by a power outage, please complete our Claim for loss or damage form.

Please complete our General Enquiry form to report a non-urgent safety concern about our network. You may wish to read our Incidents and emergencies web page for tips on keeping safe.
