Tropical Cyclone Koji - 10 January

Ergon Energy field crews are prepared for the potential impact of Tropical Cyclone Koji across the north Queensland region.

  • The risk of fallen powerlines increases during storm season.
  • Report damaged, fallen, or sagging powerlines to Ergon Network on 13 16 70, and always treat them as live and dangerous – keep well away.
  • If you see fallen powerlines, stay well away from them and report any life-threatening faults to Ergon Network on 13 16 70 or emergency services on 000.
  • Ergon Energy’s Outage Finder is a useful tool if you don’t have anything specific to report but you want to confirm that we are aware of any outage affecting your area.
  • Keep generators high and dry and only use in a well-ventilated location, never indoors.
  • If your premises has been inundated, Ergon Network cannot restore power to it until a licenced electrician has completed a safety check. Ergon Network does not arrange this check - this is up to the owner or customer to arrange.
  • If you are moving around in boats, watch for powerlines and stay clear. Floodwaters can hide electrical equipment, push poles over, and greatly reduce the clearance to overhead powerlines.
