Ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji - 11 January
Crews from across northern and central Queensland are working on storm damage to the power network, with a peak of around 23,000 customers without power this afternoon as a result of ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji.
The Mackay and Whitsunday areas have borne the brunt, with vegetation over powerlines and power poles damaged.
While the bucketing rain has closed many roads and blocked access to some trouble spots, crews are making progress where they can get access to scope damage, ensure public safety, and begin repairs where possible.
Field crews will be working into the night where it’s safe to do so in the Whitsunday, Mackay, Isaac and Livingstone council areas, and crews are also doing their best for inland areas experiencing very heavy rain.
As the weather and roads clear, crews will be out in force tomorrow with additional repair and vegetation teams.
