2026 Queensland Household Energy Survey results revealed
The 2026 Queensland Household Energy Survey has revealed growing interest in electric vehicles, driven by ongoing concerns about fuel prices.
More than 4300 Queensland households participated in this year’s survey and the results have been released online.
Energex, Ergon Energy Network and Powerlink will use the insights from residential customers to help inform prudent investment in Queensland’s grid, which powers the lives, livelihoods and lifestyles of more than 5 million people.
Since the survey was launched in 2009, technology that was once considered novel has become the norm and electricity networks have continued to evolve to meet customer needs.

In the Sunshine State, which boasts world-leading rates of rooftop solar, 15% of survey participants are looking to invest in battery storage within the next decade to reduce their electricity bills and increase their self-sufficiency.
Of the 22% of respondents who intend to buy, upgrade or replace rooftop solar within three years, more than half want a larger system to reduce their power bill.
For the same reason, this year more households showed a willingness to explore home energy management tools and services.
