You’ve given battery storage some serious thought and want more information. What now?
You can access independent advice on investing in battery storage from a number of sources, for example:
- Industry body the Clean Energy Council (CEC) has a Guide to Installing Solar for Households.
- The Clean Energy Council and CSIRO prepared a storage safety FAQ for consumers.
To take things to the next stage, you'll need to find a CEC accredited battery energy storage system installer. If you're new to solar – or your solar system requires upgrading to suit your changing requirements – you might deal directly with a retail business that sells solar and battery storage. If this is the case, check that they have fully qualified and experienced installers on staff.
Here is what to look for:
- An installer who is a registered/licensed electrical contractor in Queensland.
- A person/people with accreditation and experience in battery design and installation. You can search for a designer/installer on the Clean Energy Council website
- Someone who works for a reputable business that will be around long-term in case you have any issues or warranty problems.
The Clean Energy Council’s Solar Retailer Code of Conduct covers battery storage. Companies that have signed on to the voluntary code of conduct must provide a five-year, whole of system warranty.

Finally, do due diligence in the way you would for any major purchase:
- seek several written quotes
- speak to people in your area who have had solar and storage systems installed
- if the offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
