Whether you're at home or at work, electricity is central to almost all aspects of our everyday lives. So it's important to be mindful of electrical safety and take the time to 'Think ahead a bit' to keep you, your family, and your work colleagues safe.

The full Grim Llama story

The Grim Llama has taken it upon himself to help Queenslanders to think ahead a bit and be safe around electricity.  But who is he?  Where does he come from? We take a trip to the Grim Llama's home at Frank and Shirl's farm and get the story first hand.  Or should that be, first hoof?

Background noises to set the rural scene – cows mooing and chickens clucking.

Frank:  He's definitely not your average llama – there's always been something special about him.

Shirley:  Ever since he was a baby.  He's been a bit different. You know ..

Frank: Yeah yeah

Shirley:  Hasn't he.

Frank:  We originally got the llama to guard the sheep. Because the llama is a natural guard animal.  They make an alarm sound to warn the sheep when they sense danger.  It's like Eeeeeehhhhhhh.

Shirley:  Like that but ours is a bit different.  He makes a special sound .. a special alarm sound.

Frank:  It all started when I was tinkering with the wires.  I was doing some work up on the veranda and suddenly the llama was there.

Frank:  It was warning me!

Frank:  I was in the act of pulling … I told one of me mates about it and word got around and it wasn't long before the papers heard about it.  As you can see Grim Llama they call him.  Grim Llama saves man.

Shirley:  And children are interested too.  Here they've drawn the llama.

Frank:  And a good job they've made of it too. Yeah.  He's become a celebrity and now everybody wants to have a go.  Have a look at some of these.  The Grim Poodle.  Then we've got the giraffe .. and the .. and the .. and the kangaroo.  Johnny come lately's there.  This is the one I'd trust.  I'd trust with me life.

Shirley: He's a real TV star you know.

Frank: Everybody knows how good he is at saving people's lives.  Now he choofs off to warn people for all kinds of reasons

Shirley:  Fallen powerlines, tree trimming … repairing wall sockets

Shirley:  I hope he's back in time for dinner.
