The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) Ring-fencing Guideline seeks to ensure a level playing field in new and existing markets to promote competition in the supply of electricity services.

We are committed to complying with the Guideline as early as possible but by no later than 1 January 2018 as required.

Compliance strategy

We are continuing to assess the impact of the Guideline on our services and have recently submitted our compliance strategy to the AER.

Waiver application

We are aiming to minimise our costs in complying with the Guideline so are seeking a number of waivers where it is not cost-effective and where no harm to competition occurs.

The Guideline requires the production and publication of a number of registers namely an office and staff sharing register, an information register and a waiver register. These are currently being finalised and will be published soon.
