Ergon had an active role and joined more than 110 speakers, panelists and session leaders in the two-day program which covered a range of issues within the themes of Engagement, Innovation, Gas and Assets.

My key take away from the Energy Network Association's forum is that Ergon Energy is well placed in the field to address the challenges of a changing network.

The key topics were familiar to me, and included the need for business transformation, the need to consider new supply and demand options, exploration of new market opportunities and the right pricing signals. Ergon is also working to evolve our business model and to partner with others in the industry to achieve better outcomes for our customers, and to enable an effective energy market.

There were other topics such as the challenges of solar; energy storage; technology, information and smart grid; innovation; power quality and customer experience. All of these are on our radar, and we are well advanced in many of these areas.

These topics also reinforce the importance of our strategic direction to provide greater choice and control for customers, and minimise future price increases. Repeatedly, presenters spoke about themes that align to the key themes of our own strategy – efficient service and effective market.

Our contribution to this year's event as panellists, presenters and moderators has certainly enhanced our reputation.

I have spoken more specifically about our changing network in an earlier post.
