Motor vehicle-related incidents are one of the highest risks for our business, with many employees driving as part of the daily commute to work, or driving on the job to service customers and our vast network.

And it is a huge area to service. Our distribution area covers 97% of Queensland stretching from the expanding coastal and rural population centres to the remote communities of outback Queensland and the Northern territory boarder and the Torres Strait.

Every day of the week hundreds of our staff are on regional Queensland roads going about their work in elevated work platform vehicles, semi-trailers, light trucks, utilities, borer lifters, four wheel drives and sedans.

Knowing vehicle –related incidents are a business risk, we are supporting Queensland Road Safety Week which runs from August 17 to 21.

As part of that support our 4,400 staff will undergo special new on line training designed to build a robust culture of safe driving.

The new course is based on proven human factors research and our process documentation and will challenge participants to reflect on their driving behaviours, strengths, limitations, trigger points and motivators.

In the meantime our staff are showing their support pledging to improve at least one road safety behaviour during the week. Together with the rest of the community, we’re joining the conversation by speaking up for road safety.
