Ergon LED-ing the way

Published: 18 Mar 2016 12:07pm

The Ergon Energy LED promotion van (aka ‘Ellie Dee’) will be available to view from 5.30pm this Saturday at the Rowes Bay Sustainability Centre.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to take a look at what the future of street lights will look like and to find out what Ergon is doing to reduce the energy used by street lights in our community,” said Ergon Energy’s Manager of Meter Strategy, Andrew Gillespie.

“The trailer opens up fully to become an impressive display that is not only interactive but educational.”

Other attractions include twilight beach walks, animal interactions and the chance to make your own wildlife sensor.

“It really is a great community event which shares an important message about sustainability and how everyone can do their bit,” said Mr Gillespie.

Ergon has been trialling light emitting diode (LED) technology in street lights across much of the state.

Recently Ergon carried out testing for LED replacement lights in conjunction with the Burdekin Shire Council.
