Ergon Energy Retail's goal to raise $10million for the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Queensland is soaring with more than $1.1million raised from customer and employee donations during the past financial year.

Executive General Manager Roslyn Baker said as a regional Queensland company, Ergon Energy Retail was proud to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section).

"Our customers and employees take great comfort knowing the RFDS is there to support them, their families and the communities stretched across this great state," Ms Baker said.

"The generosity of our customers combined with the passion of our employees for the RFDS (Queensland Section) has seen more than 125,000 donors contribute to the voluntary donation scheme since the start of our partnership bringing us to a total of around $9.5 million at this point of time.

"I am honoured to be celebrating 15 years of partnership between Ergon Energy Retail and RFDS (Queensland Section) this year and it will be made even more special when we reach our target of $10 million by the end of this calendar year."

RFDS (Queensland Section) CEO Nino Di Marco praised Ergon Energy Retail on nearing their $10 million target.

"Ergon's continued support of the RFDS allows us to focus on providing the finest care to those living in rural and remote Queensland," Mr Di Marco said.

"The $1.1million raised this year alone is the cost of fitting out one of our intensive care aircraft and is a significant contribution to our overall operational costs in Queensland," he said.

Customers are able to donate $2 or $5 on their quarterly electricity bills or make a one-off RFDS donation through the RFDS website
