The cable malfunctioned yesterday afternoon and temporarily interrupted power to parts of the city centre for approximately an hour and a half.
An Ergon Energy spokesperson said crews are working in Spence Street and are confident they have identified a section of cable that malfunctioned.
“To be sure, technicians are using sophisticated equipment to send an electric pulse along the 22,000 volt cable. Once confirmed as malfunctioning, crews will replace about one hundred metres of cable and undertake a process to have it ready for service in the next few days,“ he said.
Power was restored to about 320 customers by 5.46 pm after redirecting power from other parts of the network in the CBD. Power was interrupted at 4pm.
