Purchase equipment to create ‘Tropical Energy Saving Toolkits’ available for loan free of charge to Townsville residents and community organisations.  The toolkits will provide resources for customers to make informed decisions on saving energy in their home

Innovation and Training in Sustainability Project

Establish a sustainability centre. The centrepiece will be a computer programmed, multi-tiered, solar powered aquaponic (fish and vegetable production) system.  Students will be involved in the way energy, water and nutrients are used and recycled in modern farming practices

Mt Colliery CWA Hall Energy Safety and Efficiency Project

Update electrical wiring making the hall safer and able to manage modern electrical appliances and equipment. Update the lighting to energy efficient fittings to reduce energy use

Upgrade electrical system for improved safety and reliability. Educate guides and create awareness of the importance of electrical safety

Installation of Energy Efficient Measures at Mackay Surf Life Saving Club

Replace leaking shower heads and taps in club change rooms, replace inefficient refrigeration, switch hot water system to an economy tariff

Innovation with Electricity  Decreasing Our Footprint

The library will become a sustainable learning space by installing efficient lighting devices, motion and lighting detectors, priority lighting circuits, use of natural airflow for cooling.  Daily, weekly and monthly power usage will be measured. Students will have access to the school’s solar net site to see improved efficiencies and usage protocols

Installation of electrical safety switches, upgrade switch boards with new enclosures, replace antiquated external lighting with energy efficient lighting

Purchase a replacement energy efficient fridge with a door alarm and provide annual service to improve air conditioner effectiveness

Installation of new power circuit, extra power points, safety switch and circuit breakers to manage usage demand
