Brodie Blackburn

I’m Brodie Blackburn. I’m a 3rd year electrical engineering graduate up here in Townsville with Ergon Energy. I applied to the graduate program because of its three year length. It also came highly recommended to me from a previous graduate.

Danny Osbourne

I’m Danny Osbourne, I’m a graduate electrical engineer and based in Townsville. I joined Ergon Energy’s graduate program because it was a good transition from uni life to work life. One of the things I like about the program are the rotations. Every 6 months I get to change business units, meet people and learn new skills.

Nick Pappapetros

Hey, I’m Nick Pappapetros... I’m a graduate engineer here with Ergon Energy... I’ve been here with the program for three years and I’ve really enjoyed experiences that I’ve gotten and the people that I’ve met and I really look forward to seeing what comes up for me next. When I finished electrical engineering over at QUT, I was like, what do I want to get into? I don’t know... yeah, power engineering sounds really cool but you know, what does power engineering involve? You know, we did some work on motors and we did some design work but I had no idea what I really wanted to get into. Then I found out the Ergon Energy’s graduate program had a wide range of options and available groups that I could get into. So during my time here, I just been able to really branch out and have a go at whatever I really thought would be something that I would be interested in.

Taren Hobson

Hi, my name’s Taren Hobson and I’m an Operational Technology Development Engineer with Ergon Energy.  I started my career with Ergon on the graduate program. For me, I found that the program was a great start to working in the power industry. I found that it gave me a vast array of experience and knowledge from across the business.

I’m Brodie Blackburn. I’m a 3rd year electrical engineering graduate up here in Townsville with Ergon Energy. I found the recruitment process really good. After I had accepted the position, I was treated to a familiarisation visit in Toowoomba, where I met my future mentor and supervisor.

Danny Osbourne

I’m Danny Osbourne, I’m a graduate electrical engineer and I’m based in Townsville.

The recruitment process was quite comprehensive but at the same time, the interviews and group activities were very informal and quite relaxed. My role required me to relocate from Toowoomba to Townsville. The relocation was very easy. Ergon Energy took care of everything including removalists and travel to Townsville.

Nick Pappapetros

Hey, I’m Nick Pappapetros... I’m a graduate engineer here with Ergon Energy... I’ve been here with the program for three years. I remember when I was finishing Uni how much of a difficult experience it was just deciding – OK, there are so many graduate programs out there, you know, which one do I choose? And of course you’re going to apply for all of them but you will get to a point where, like, OK, now I’m going to have to start making decisions. And one thing that I strongly encourage you to do is to ask them what opportunities they have for you. So it’s not just, “OK, they’re a really big company... which means that they do a lot of things”, but, will you actually be allowed, involved and encouraged to give other things a go.

Taren Hobson

Hi, my name’s Taren Hobson and I’m an Operational Technology Development Engineer with Ergon Energy. I started my career with Ergon on the graduate program. If you’re planning a career in electrical engineering, my advice is to start with a good graduate program. I was really happy with Ergon’s Graduate program, and I’d recommend giving it a go.

My long-term goals are to achieve my Chartered status by the end of the program which is supported by the grad team and then transition into a permanent role which I’m really hoping to enjoy

Taren Hobson

Hi, my name’s Taren Hobson and I’m an Operational Technology Development Engineer with Ergon Energy. One of the highlights for me was working out in the field. I actually got to travel up to the tip of the cape and up to the Torres Strait... a little bit of island hopping. It was unlike anything I’ve done at university and it taught me a lot of practical skills.

Nick Pappapetros

Hey, I’m Nick Pappapetros... I’m a graduate engineer here with Ergon Energy... I’ve been here with the program for three years. I’m a really strong supporter of the graduate program. It has really provided me with a great range of opportunities – both technical and non-technical and I have been out there in marketing for Ergon Energy because I truly believe that the graduate program that Ergon has is one of the best ones that are in Australia.
