Tariff 31 Night Rate (Super Economy)
This is the cheapest tariff available for applicable electric hot water systems and other applicable connected equipment. This is because Ergon Energy supplies electricity when demand on the electricity network is low. Electricity is made available for a minimum of eight hours per day during time periods set at the discretion of Ergon Energy but usually between the hours of 10pm and 7am. This tariff is recommended for electric hot water systems that only need to reheat at night to meet the needs of your business throughout the day. The recommended minimum size of an electric hot water system on this tariff is 250 litres.
Please note, because the energy supply hours are restricted, it is important to make sure that your electric storage water heater is large enough to meet the needs of your business.

How are our electricity charges calculated?
Your electricity charges are based upon notified prices stipulated in the Tariff Schedule set by the QCA. The exact number of days included in a specific account is stated on the bill. The charges for electricity shall be calculated pro rata based on the number of days specified in your bill.
Do Ergon Energy customers receive an electricity subsidy from the Queensland Government?
Ergon Energy receives a Community Service Obligation payment from the Queensland Government to ensure electricity is affordable for regional Queenslanders. The total payment is estimated to be over $400 million in the 2011/12 financial year.
Why are there different tariffs?
All premises have electricity connected to a range of appliances with different usage patterns, some of which can be aligned to periods where discounted rates can be offered. A range of tariffs are available to provide customers with an option to choose the most appropriate tariff to reduce their electricity bill.
What is a Time of Use tariff?
Time of Use tariffs allow customers some flexibility to choose when they use electricity. Electricity consumed in the Low Rate period will be cheaper than electricity consumed in the High Rate period. When choosing a Time of Use tariff, customers need to consider the time and application of power usage in order to achieve the lowest cost option.
What should I connect to Tariff 33?
The recommended applications for the Economy Plan Tariff 33 are applicable electric storage water heating systems and heat banks, provided they are permanently connected. Swimming pool filters used only for the purposes of filtration and associated sanitation in domestic installations may be connected by a socket-outlet.
Read the Queensland Government fact sheet to find out more information about connecting pool pumps to Tariff 33. However, please be aware that supply under this tariff is limited to a minimum of 18 hours per day at times which are at the discretion of Ergon Energy.
Why am I charged a minimum monthly payment or service fee?
A minimum monthly payment or service fee is charged to cover the cost of maintaining your electricity supply, the provision of equipment and general administration.
Am I eligible for a Queensland Government Electricity Rebate?
A Queensland Government Electricity Rebate is available to customers who meet eligibility criteria. This rebate applies to the principal place of residence.
Am I eligible for the NSW Medical Energy Rebate?
The NSW Government provides a Medical Energy Rebate to customers who meet eligibility criteria. To apply for the Medical Energy Rebate you will need to complete and submit an application form to your Retailer.
Is there a renewable energy alternative?
Yes, Ergon Energy offers a renewable energy alternative called Clean Energy. Clean Energy is sourced from renewable energy sources such as wind, hydro and biomass.
What is Full Retail Competition and what does it mean?
Full Retail Competition (FRC) came into effect on 1 July 2007. This means you may receive an offer of a market contract from other retailers. Most customers will have two choices. You can choose to do nothing and stay with Ergon Energy as your retailer. We will continue to supply electricity to you at the notified prices set by the QCA and you will receive the same great level of service. Or you can receive or seek offers of market contracts from other retailers.
