Important information about connecting pool pumps to Tariff 33
On 1 July 2011 the tariff schedule in the Queensland Government Gazette and the Electricity Industry Code was amended to now allow domestic pool owners to connect pool pumps to Tariff 33 via a standard power point. This amendment means pool owners can now simply unplug the pool pump for non-electrical repairs and maintenance without the need of a licensed electrician.
For more information read the Queensland Government information about connecting pool pumps to Tariff 33 fact sheet.

This tariff can be applied to applicable storage water heaters (including solar, electric and heat pump water heaters) and other applicable, permanently connected domestic equipment. Swimming pool filters used only for the purposes of filtration and associated sanitation in domestic installations may be connected by a socket-outlet. Electricity supply is made available for a minimum of 18 hours per day during time periods set at the discretion of Ergon Energy, but at a reduced cost for those appliances or electric water heaters that do not require energy all day or need to be on call. Please note that because the energy supply hours are restricted, it is important to make sure that your electric storage water heater is large enough to meet the needs of your home (see table below). |
