As part of Ergon Energy's commitment to reducing the environmental impact of supplying electricity to isolated communities, we are investigating, and where appropriate installing, high quality renewable energy generation equipment.

Ergon Energy uses wind generation on Thursday Island in the Torres Strait and has the only Australian geothermal power station at Birdsville.

New projects being considered include:

• Windorah Solar Farm
  
• Investigating increasing capacity of the Birdsville geothermal power station
  
• Investigating using biodiesel from sustainable and renewable resources at all sites.
