For teachers

Ergonia is designed to be an experience offering students an opportunity to learn about energy production and use.  It's a way to help shape attitudes and behaviours regarding efficiency energy use, electrical safety, and renewable energy sources.

Ergonia is a place to support and extend learnings from the classroom, the home and into the future. Encouraging students and their families to act more responsibly about energy use contributes to a sustainable future for all.

Our mission statement for Ergonia is:

Ergonia will extend energy education for Queensland students in years one to ten, utilising the Internet as a primary medium.

As the major electricity distributor for regional Queensland, Ergon Energy can draw on considerable expertise in traditional and emerging forms of energy production, distribution and use to provide relevant information in support of teachers.

A key feature for students is the inclusion of activities for each of the different content areas. Students can research through the in-depth information, and then test their knowledge with the relevant activity.

The Activities are designed to test comprehension of the Ergonia content, and to encourage application of the principles involved, both on and off-line.

Ergon Energy, in partnership with Queensland Arts Council, developed the educational stage show Power Trip - the Adventures of Watty and Volt which toured regional Queensland schools from early 2007 until 2009.  Watty and Volt are two comical characters, who through the use of slapstick and physical theatre introduce students to a range of energy related concepts.
