Energy sources
RENEWABLE ENERGY
Renewable energy is the use of different resources that can produce electricity. Some of these resources include solar, wind, wind/tidal, geothermal and landfill gases that can all be turned into electricity.
What is energy?
Energy is the ability to do work. This means it has the ability to make something happen. This can be in the form of changes in shape, size or even form such as changing something from a solid to a liquid! You might say energy is the ultimate agent of change!
Without energy, nothing would ever change and nothing would ever happen. Whenever anything happens or changes there is an energy change. Energy changes form, like when heat flowing into a kettle filled with water makes the water turn into steam; or it can change location, like when heat flows too fast out of your body and makes you cold.
Electrical energy is the most widely used form of energy but there are many other sources of energy including the sun, wind, water just to name a few. Sources of energy that can be used over and over again are known as renewable energy.
The following kinds of energy are different types of energy other than electricity that are used all over the world. Most of these sources of energy are renewable and come from nature.
