Nexium Telecommunications (Nexium) is a retail provider of telecommunications services to government departments and agencies and a wholesale provider of telecommunications to carriers and carriage services providers.

Launched in 2004, Nexium was born out of Ergon Energy’s own need to upgrade its fibre optic network to improve the performance of its electricity supply.
With spare fibre capacity and a rapidly growing fibre optic network, Nexium is able to offer resilient services to regional Queensland urban centres and many remote mining locations. Together with our other infrastructure partners, Nexium can provide affordable solutions where no one else can.

Nexium is a licensed carrier and is bound by the requirements of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and particularly the Telecommunications Act 1997. Nexium is also a fully approved Smartnet Panel member for the supply of services to Government Departments & Agencies.

Our services
Wavelength (Pseudo dark fibre)
Nexium’s Wavelength Service is a point-to-point service that provides very high capacity connections between two sites over fibre optic cable within a regional centre.
Wavelength Services comprise of a single wavelength in either direction delivered over a single pair of optical fibres between two sites allowing the customer to seamlessly extend their internal network independent of networking protocol changes.
The Nexium Wavelength service enables a customer to utilise the benefits of optical fibre to transfer large amounts of data between two locations.
E-line/ E-trunk
Nexium offers two types of Data Services.
These are point-to-point services with capacities of 2 and 1000 Mbps and above using standard Ethernet interfaces.
E-Line services can meet simple requirements where two sites need to be linked, or E-Trunk can allow multiple services to be carried between sites or back to regional towns or capital cities.
E-Line Services can be configured using flexible, high-speed bandwidth profiles to meet service performance and capacity requirements. The service also provides quality of service features to support IP-based transport of voice, video and business critical data communications.
The physical interface is provided as a designated Ethernet port on a Nexium customer edge (CE) switch. This switch is provided and maintained by Nexium.
Internet
The Nexium Internet product enables customers to access dedicated Internet connectivity using scalable, high availability managed broadband services.
This product provides access to high speed Internet for business customers, as well as Internet Service Providers that share high capacity Internet bandwidth among multiple users.
Nexium’s Wholesale Internet product incorporates the following standard features:
- Dedicated access to Nexium’s Internet Points of Presence, that interconnects to Tier 1 national Internet backbone networks.
- High performance, flexible broadband access options, starting at 1 Mbps and scalable up to 1 Gbps on a single service.
- Wholesale Internet Services can be delivered to 11 major metropolitan and regional centres.
- Fully managed service, incorporating reporting of historical usage and performance statistics.
