Ergon Energy's Statement of Corporate Intent (SCI) is prepared each financial year in accordance with Section 9 and Part 8 of the Government Owned Corporations Act (1993) (the GOC Act).

The SCI represents a formal performance agreement between Ergon Energy's Board of Directors and its shareholding Ministers - the Treasurer and Minister for Employment and Economic Development and Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade - with respect to the financial and non-financial performance targets specified for the financial year. The SCI also represents an acknowledgement and agreement on major activities, the objectives, undertakings, policies, and investments and borrowings of Ergon Energy for the financial year.
