Industry code and contracts

Electricity Industry Code

On 15 August 2011, the Minister for Energy & Water Utilities approved edition ten of the Electricity Industry Code which was made under Section 120J of the Electricity Act (1994) (the Act). It was notified in the Queensland Government Gazette on 26 August 2011 and is effective from that date, replacing the nineth edition.

Standard Customer Contracts

A customer is generally considered to be a 'small customer' if they consume less than 100 megawatt hours of electricity per annum.

The Standard Retail Contract (SRC) (PDF 160kb) is made under the Act and contains the terms and conditions prescribed in section 52 of the Act. The SRC applies to small customers who have not entered into a negotiated retail contract and, in accordance with the Act, will apply without the need for Ergon Energy or the customer to sign a document containing the terms and conditions. The SRC sets out the current terms and conditions for Ergon Energy to provide retail services to our small customers.

Similarly, the Act sets out the terms of the Standard Connection Contract (SCC) (PDF 171kb) which applies to customers who have not entered into a negotiated connection contract and, in accordance with the Act, will apply without the need for Ergon Energy or the customer to sign a document containing the terms and conditions. The SCC sets out the terms and conditions by which Ergon Energy will connect and supply electricity to customers in its distribution area.

Standard Large Non-Market Customer Retail Contract

A customer is generally considered to be a 'large customer' if they consume 100 megawatt hours or more of electricity per annum.

The Standard Large Non-Market Customer Retail Contract (SLRC) (PDF 97kb) is made under the terms of the Act and contains the terms and conditions for the sale of electricity by Ergon Energy to our large, non-market customers. In accordance with the Act, it will apply without the need for Ergon Energy or the customer to sign a document containing the terms and conditions.
