Ergon Energy crews are patrolling one of the two feeder lines in Mitchell after a fault caused 316 customers to have their power supply interrupted just after 11.30am.
Depending on what they find, power may be restored to some or all of those customers this afternoon.
The other feeder line that supplies 256 Mitchell customers was earlier de-energised as a safety precaution because of the record flooding in the town.
Their power supply will not be restored until the flooding has receded and, where necessary, homes that have been inundated have been individually checked to confirm it is safe to do so.
A further 359 customers in Roma had been disconnected as a safety precaution and the number of disconnections there is expected to exceed 500 based on the predicted flood levels.
Some disconnections in Roma are occurring before properties are inundated because the predicted fast rise in the flood levels this afternoon means crews will not have access later on.
Customers evacuating their homes are advised to turn off and unplug any electrical appliances that may become inundated with water and to move electrical equipment to higher ground where possible.
People moving around in boats should be aware of the reduced clearance between powerlines and the floodwater.
Parents are encouraged to ensure their children do not swim in floodwaters.
