A truck with its tipper raised contacted high voltage overhead powerlines near Giru last night cutting power to the town for 2 hours.
An Ergon Energy spokesman said power was interrupted to 890 customers after the truck came out of a cane paddock 2 kilometres north of the town and contacted over powerlines at 6.51pm.
Power was restored to all customers by 8.55pm after crews checked and re-instated powerlines he said.
The truck left the scene before Ergon Energy crews arrived.
The spokesman said the incident served as a timely reminder for cane harvesting equipment operators to be aware of their vehicle limits and overhead powerlines.
