Ergon Energy is meeting the challenges of an ongoing growth environment with a $4 billion capital works investment taking place in the current five-year regulatory period from 2005-2010.
That is in addition to a $1.32 billion spend on maintenance, vegetation management and asset inspections.
In the 2005-2010 period, the planned capital works program includes the construction of up to seven new bulk supply points, 28 zone substations and three switching stations. This investment will deliver a significant increase in capacity available across the state. These projects will support the continued economic growth and prosperity of regional Queensland, where booming industrial development, population growth and increasing air-conditioning loads continue to drive demand.
This investment is taking place across the state, including:
- $243 million in Northern Region
- $293 million in Southern Region
- $259 million in Central Region
